New Products: Grapes, Green Peppers, Tomatoes, Zuchinni, and Apple Sauce

The new products are out and they arrived this week at my house.  Here is what I think about them.

All have a 25 year shelf life.

1.                 Freeze Dried Red Seedless Grapes $43.19 for a number 10 can

·        Size—the pieces are the size of grapes.  Often several are stuck together and are slightly broken exposing the inside of the grape. The grapes are hollow.
·        Taste—the grapes are sweet and fruity.  I think they taste like grapes but I have has a couple of people tell me they remind them of other fruit, like blueberries or cranberries.
·        Price--$43.19 is a little steep for me.  I would probably not purchase them for my own food storage.  I am going to take them to parties and let guests sample them.

2. Freeze Dried Green Bell Peppers $15.29 for a number 10 can

Of the new products this is my favorite.
·        Size—The peppers are in large pieces.
·        Taste—Is great, very clean, and fresh. Great for a stir fry or fajitas.
·        Price—A great price point.  $15.29 is an awesome price.  I would defiantly buy a couple cans for that price.
·         The cost is $1.27 per cup or per pepper.  Pretty good for lasting 25 years.
·        I know many people really loved the dehydrated peppers that we are phasing out, but I think they will like these much more.

3.  Freeze Dried Zucchini $17.59 for a number 10 can
·        Size—large crosswise slices.  About the size of a silver dollar.
·        Taste—a little bland, but I always think zucchini is bland.
·        Price—I think the price is good.  $17.59 makes it one of the cheaper vegetables.  Zucchini is not one of my favorites so I probably won’t add it to my food storage but I do think lots of customers will.

4.                 Applesauce $28.99 for a number 10 can

Sorry no original photo it was back ordered and I didn't have it when I took the photos of the rest.
·                    Size—small granules, like sand.  This is not a powder like the tomato powder.  Is it is chunkier.  This is a dehydrated product.
·                    Taste—like applesauce.  I don’t like to eat it dry.  I think it is weird dry (but Sariah tells me she likes it dry).
·                    Price—I think the price is fine.  I think a lot of customer will really like this.

5.                 Freeze Dried Tomatoes $41.69 for a number 10 can

·                    Size—large dice, about the size of a nickel.
·                    Taste—fresh intense tomato flavor
·                    Price—I think this is a pricey one.  But it is a nice option for long term tomato storage.
